Intel Will layoff 5,000 employees

San Francisco - the giant tech company from the United States (U.S.), Intel Corp., plans to cut 5% of its employees because of profit plunged 13% this year. The company will also begin to focus on the development of mobile gadgets.

Report of Termination of Employment (FLE) is out after the company earlier reported a 13% drop in profit. Intel shares also eroded by the negative sentiment.

"We expect job cuts of up to 5% at the end of this year," said Chris Kraeuter Intel spokesman told AFP on Sunday (01/19/2014).

"It's the usual thing we do on a regular basis to show the importance of our priorities," he said.

Late last year, the company is headquartered in California's had 107 600 employees. If you see 5% of that means there will be about 5,380 employees laid off.

However Kraeuter do not want to specify the employees of the Intel division which will be affected by the layoff program, as well as branch offices are located in which Intel.

The job cuts also apply to those who retire and come out voluntarily. Until the end of 2013 yesterday, Intel's profit of U.S. $ 9.6 billion with a turnover of U.S. $ 52.7 billion, compared with last year's position with earnings of U.S. $ 11 billion and U.S. $ 53.3 billion.
